6 Rules Women with Perfect Skin Live by
Rule #1: Eating and Drinking the Right Way
It should come as no surprise to you that some foods can cause serious skin issues. But did you know some drinks can, too? Heavy alcohol consumption can lead to dehydrated skin, which makes you look older than you are. No bueno! Speaking of dehydration, drinking enough water is one thing many girls with perfect skin really stay on top of, and it makes all the difference.
Rule #2: Keep It Clean
We’re not just talking about your face here, though proper cleansing is indeed important. Keep your face clean, but don’t forget about the other stuff that your face comes into contact with each day! Think about it: Your phone, pillowcase and hands all spend a good amount of time up against your precious face. Keep them clean by using antibacterial or makeup removing wipes. Wash your pillowcase (and your sheets, for that matter!) about once a week to make sure that beauty sleep has its maximum effect!
Rule #3: Get Enough Sleep
Speaking of beauty sleep, we just can’t emphasize how important sleep is to perfect skin. There’s literally a science behind it! Sleep not only restores your skin, but also your body and your mind. When you’ve gotten enough sleep, you’re more inclined to take care of yourself, which means having the time and discipline to follow a good skincare regimen.
Rule #4: Following a Proper Skincare Routine
There’s lots of fluff out there for how to care for your skin the right way. Sure, you know to wash and moisturize every morning and evening. But do you know the right order in which to use products?Layering your skincare products can be a little complicated, but it’s really pretty easy (and worth it!) once you’ve got it figured out. And don’t underestimate the importance of a great serum!
Rule #5: Protecting Yourself From the Sun
By now you should know that SPF is a no-brainer. Even indoors, the sun’s rays can bring harmful effects to your skin. But there are also little things you may not have considered. For instance, sunglasses provide added protection to the skin around your eyes, which is especially delicate and often the first area to show signs of aging.
Rule #6: Taking Quick Showers
There are oh-so-many reasons to make your shower routine shorter. You save water. You save time. And you save your skin! By taking quick showers with warm (not hot!) water, you can make sure your skin is nice and healthy and not stripped of moisture when you’re done. Also, make sure washing your face is the last step of your shower so that any shampoo or conditioner residue can be washed right off before you turn off the water!
