We understand that, for many individuals, pigmentation can be devastating and can often affect self-esteem and confidence. Pigmentation is due to a build up of melanin (the protein in our skin responsible for our skin colour) caused by several factors including UV sunlight exposure, hormones, medications or sometimes after an injury to the skin.
Generally, Dermamelan can be used by men and women of all skin tones and types who suffer from pigmentation concerns. Although it is designed for patients with severe pigmentation issues, patients with more minor pigmentation or sun damage can still find this treatment hugely beneficial.
HOW DERMAMELAN®️ DEPIGMENTATION TREATMENTS WORK
Dermamelan’s unique medical depigmentation method aims to treat skin hyperpigmentation, reducing the appearance of brown spots, blemishes, and sun damage for a clearer and more even complexion. Its dual action works through an intensive corrective and pigment-regulating action, treating established brown patches through increased cellular turnover whilst also reducing the cellular processes responsible for new pigmentation production.
By working in this synergistic and complementary way, Dermamelan aims to control the overstimulation of melanin synthesis over a prolonged time to prevent hyperpigmentation from returning. It also stimulates the skin’s structural proteins for improved quality, hydration, and firmness.
YOUR DERMAMELAN®️ DEPIGMENTATION PROCEDURE
IN-CLINIC PHASE
Following an in-depth consultation with our Practitioners, your Dermamelan®️ treatment will begin with the application of the Dermamelan Depigmenting mask which is left on the skin for 4 hours.
AT HOME/HOME CARE PHASE
To experience the best results of your Dermamelan®️ peel, we require you to continue the treatment by carefully following at-home/home care instructions – this consists of applying Dermamelan®️ Home care products for 3-6 months to continuously depigment and regulate pigment overproduction.

COMMON Dermamelan QUESTIONS
The depth, intensity and type of your pigmentation will determine how long it can take to see results. Pigment closer to the surface of the skin resolves faster than pigment in the deeper layers (dermis). You can expect to see improvements within the first 1-2 months and then continual improvements for 3-6 months, so long as you are using your home care products and following the Dermamelan®️ depigmenting protocol.

Safety and suitability for any treatment are determined on an individual basis. During a personalised consultation, your practitioner will review your medical history and assess factors specific to you to determine whether a treatment is clinically appropriate.

This information is discussed privately during your consultation, ensuring it is accurate, relevant, and tailored to your personal circumstances. Your practitioner will also answer any questions you have to support informed decision-making based on professional clinical guidance.
The in-clinic portion of your treatment takes approximately 20-40 minutes. The mask is then left on the skin for 4 hours, and the homecare protocol is to be followed for 3-6 months.
If you’re looking to reduce hyperpigmentation such as age spots, sun spots, post-inflammatory marks or melasma, you may be a suitable candidate.
Dermamelan®️ cannot be performed if you are:
- Pregnant
- Breastfeeding
- Currently taking or have taken Roaccutane medication in the last six months
- Experiencing an active infection or open wounds
- Treating active herpes simplex (cold sores), or have a family history of keloid scarring.
After 2-3 days, there may be some mild-moderate skin shedding and peeling. This can last up to 2-4 weeks. After the shedding process, your skin may still appear dry, sensitive and pink for up to 3 months. This ‘new’ skin must be treated with care at all times. Other skin care products are not allowed to be used throughout the therapy, and other skin treatments should be avoided. To determine if this treatment is right for you, we require a consultation with our Talent. There, we can answer all your specific questions about the Dermamelan®️ peel, like what particular skin care products and treatments in your routine you should avoid.
A Dermamelan®️ peel at SKYN starts from $1800 for full face (incl. Homecare Kit & 3x Complimentary Healite II LED treatments). Before your treatment, we will require you to come into the clinic for a friendly consultation to determine if this is the most appropriate treatment for your skin concerns. From there, if you choose to proceed with the treatment we require a 50% deposit to book it in (the deposit is redeemable on the treatment). Please note we’re unable to perform your Dermamelan®️ peel on the same day as your initial consultation.
