How Dermamelan®️ Depigmentation Treatments Work

Dermamelan® is a medical depigmenting method that efficiently and progressively eliminates spots. By acting on the accumulation of pigment in the skin and on the root of the problem, Dermamelan® provides long-lasting outcomes. The treatment consists of the application of the Dermamelan®️ mask in our clinic and strict adherence to home care for 3-6 months. Trust us, the results are worth the effort!

Your Dermamelan®️ Depigmentation Procedure

In-Clinic Phase

Following an in-depth consultation with our fabulous Talent, your Dermamelan®️ treatment will begin with the application of two masks, which are left on the skin for 4 hours. This is where the intensive depigmenting magic takes place!

At Home/Homecare Phase

To experience the best results of your Dermamelan®️ peel, we require you to continue the treatment by carefully following at-home/homecare instructions – this consists of applying Dermamelan®️ Homecare products for 3-6 months to continuously depigment and regulate pigment overproduction.

Before and After Dermamelan Depigmentation

Dermamelan®️ Depigmentation Peel FAQs

The depth, intensity and type of your pigmentation will determine how long it can take to see results. Pigment closer to the surface of the skin resolves faster than pigment in the deeper layers (dermis). You can expect to see improvements within the first 1-2 months and then continual improvements for 3-6 months, so long as you are using your home care products and following the Dermamelan®️ depigmenting protocol

As well as being extraordinarily effective compared to other available treatments, the benefits of Dermamelan®️ peels offer several advantages over other depigmenting treatments:

  • Reduces skin hyperpigmentation
  • Regulates the overproduction of melanin
  • Reduces and controls the reappearance of new spots
  • Very effective in treating all types of hyper-pigmentation, especially deep and severe Melasma or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Effective for pigmentation that has failed to resolve after traditional skin lightening products or other lightening peels.
  • Very rapid and easy depigmenting action.
  • Compatible with ALL skin types (see suitability FAQ for more information)
  • Light peeling effect
  • Rejuvenates the skin
  • Treatment can be used all year round
  • Beneficial for individuals with acne
  • Highly safe and does not contain Hydroquinone or TCA

The key difference between pigmentation and hyperpigmentation lies in the melanin production. In the case of pigmentation, the melanin production is in balance, leading to an even and natural skin tone. However, with hyperpigmentation, there is an overproduction of melanin in specific areas, resulting in darker patches or spots.

Dermamelan®️ peels are extremely safe and effective for treating hyperpigmentation. In your initial consultation, we take you through every step of the process, answering any concerns and queries to ensure you’re comfortable and informed about your treatment at SKYN.

The in-clinic portion of your treatment takes approximately 20-40 minutes. The mask is then left on the skin for 4 hours, and the homecare protocol is to be followed for 3-6 months.

If you’re looking to reduce hyperpigmentation such as age spots, sun spots, post-inflammatory marks or melasma, you may be a great candidate. Unlike lasers, we are not restricted to particular skin types/skin tones, making it an effective option for just about everyone.

Dermamelan®️ cannot be performed if you are:

  • Pregnant
  • Breastfeeding
  • Currently taking or have taken Roaccutane medication in the last six months
  • Experiencing an active infection or open wounds
  • Treating active herpes simplex (cold sores), or have a family history of keloid scarring.

After 2-3 days, there may be some mild-moderate skin shedding and peeling. This can last up to 2-4 weeks. After the shedding process, your skin may still appear dry, sensitive, pink and ‘new’ for up to 3 months. This ‘new’ skin must be treated with care at all times. Other skin care products are not allowed to be used throughout the therapy, and other skin treatments should be avoided. To determine if this treatment is right for you, we require a consultation with our Talent. There, we can answer all your specific questions about the Dermamelan®️ peel, like what particular skin care products and treatments in your routine you should avoid.

A Dermamelan®️ peel at SKYN starts from $1800. Before your treatment, we will require you to come into the clinic for a friendly consultation. From there, if you choose to proceed with the treatment, we require a 50% deposit. Please note we’re unable to perform your Dermamelan®️ peel on the same day as your initial consultation.

Your depigmentation treatment cost includes;

  • Consultation
  • In clinic mask with our dermal specialists
  • Take-home care maintenance kit (six products in total)
  • Three complimentary Healite II treatments
