    MICRODERMABRASION PERTH

Deep Clean & Refresh with Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion in Perth

At SKYN®️, we provide diamond-tip microdermabrasion in Perth at our pristine Subiaco cosmetic clinic. Microdermabrasion is a popular non-invasive cosmetic treatment used to improve the texture and appearance of your skin. Our state-of-the-art microdermabrasion facials are best suited to skin that is congested, dry or in need of a soothing refresh.

Our microdermabrasion (also known as micro or microderm) treatment is often combined with a facial for enhanced results. A microderm facial will involve various steps like the micro to exfoliate and cleanse, extractions, and applying masks and serums tailored to your skin type. To maintain the results of your microdermabrasion treatment, you may need multiple sessions spaced a few weeks apart, but don’t worry; our Talent is here to recommend a personalised treatment plan for you to get the best results!

How Medical Microdermabrasion Works

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive skin treatment that works by mechanically exfoliating the top layer of dead skin. This process helps improve the texture and appearance of the skin by removing dead skin cells, resulting in a brighter, smoother complexion. But how does it all work?

Microdermabrasion facials use a specialised handheld device with a diamond-tipped wand to gently abrade your skin’s surface. The abrasive tip physically exfoliates the outermost layer of the skin. Simultaneously, a vacuum mechanism is employed to remove the exfoliated skin cells. This not only removes the dead skin cells but also stimulates blood flow to the treated area, promoting oxygenation and nutrient delivery to the skin. A microdermabrasion facial is generally considered safe for most skin types, but it may not be suitable for individuals with certain skin conditions or very sensitive skin. It’s essential to consult with our experienced Talent to determine if microdermabrasion is an ideal treatment for your specific skin concerns.

Your Microdermabrasion Procedure

Your microdermabrasion treatment will begin with a consultation with a member of our Talent, where you will discuss your specific skincare concerns, goals, and any allergies or sensitivities you may have. Your therapist will then thoroughly cleanse your face to remove makeup, dirt, and oil. Once cleansed, we then incorporate the microdermabrasion component of the facial, which involves exfoliation and suction of dead skin cells.

After your treatment, a mask may be applied to your skin. The type of mask used will depend on your skin type and concerns. Following this, we will then apply serums and moisturisers appropriate for your skin type and concerns. These products help nourish and hydrate your skin, providing a final layer of protection.

Applying sunscreen is a crucial final step, especially if your facial is during the day. Sunscreen helps protect your skin from UV damage, which is especially important after exfoliating treatments like microdermabrasion.

Our Talent will then provide you with post-treatment care instructions, including avoiding sun exposure, using gentle skincare products, and staying hydrated.

Microdermabrasion FAQs

  • Helps to prevent breakouts
  • Reduces clogged pores, blackheads and whiteheads
  • Improves congestion and acne blemishes
  • Improves skin tone
  • Allows for better product absorption
  • Restores a healthy, smooth feel to the skin

Immediately after a microdermabrasion session, you may notice some immediate improvements in your skin. These can include a smoother texture, improved skin tone, and a refreshed appearance. Your skin may also feel softer. In the first day or two following the treatment, you might experience some mild redness and sensitivity. This is normal and usually subsides quickly. During this time, your skin may continue to look brighter and more radiant. The most significant improvements from diamond tip microdermabrasion typically become noticeable within the first 7-10 days after the procedure. During this time, you may observe further skin texture refinement, reduced pore size, and a fading of minor, superficial skin imperfections.

The results of a microderm treatment generally last 3-6 weeks. Maintaining the fantastic effects of microdermabrasion means continuing the treatment every 4-6 weeks as a deep clean or as advised.

Microdermabrasion and dermabrasion are both skin procedures that exfoliate the skin to improve its texture and appearance, but they differ significantly in terms of their depth, invasiveness, downtime, and the conditions they are used to address. Microdermabrasion is a superficial exfoliation technique. It removes the outermost layer of skin, the stratum corneum, which is made up of dead skin cells.

This procedure is relatively gentle and doesn’t penetrate beyond the epidermis (the top layer of the skin). Dermabrasion is a more aggressive and deeper exfoliation technique. It removes multiple layers of skin, including the epidermis and a portion of the dermis (the layer beneath the epidermis). Dermabrasion is considered a surgical procedure and goes much deeper than Microdermabrasion.

Microdermabrasion is a safe treatment when performed by a qualified professional on suitable candidates. It is considered a low-risk procedure with minimal downtime and side effects. However, it’s essential to consult a member of our Talent to discuss your specific concerns, determine if microdermabrasion is right for you, and receive personalised guidance on achieving the best results safely. Always follow pre- and post-treatment instructions to ensure a safe and effective outcome.

Microdermabrasion is generally safe for individuals with different skin types and skin tones, including those with fair, medium, and dark skin tones. Unlike other cosmetic procedures, it doesn’t carry a significant risk of pigmentation changes or scarring. Microdermabrasion is most suitable for mild and superficial skin concerns, including:

  • Dull skin
  • Clogged pores
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • No active skin conditions
